Ford had never been one for symbols of things. Things were what they were, regardless of names and symbols or signs.

He loved Darcy, and he could no longer picture life without her. He certainly didn't want to. But when he had asked her to marry him, he hadn't asked because he himself wanted to get married. He honestly didn't care one way or the other, and he sure as hell didn't need some piece of paper or ceremony to tell him that he loved her. But, she did want to get married.

She also wanted wedding rings, for the both of them. Again he didn't really care. He didn't need a ring on his finger to be married. What was a wedding ring, anyway? A signal to others that one was married? A signal of "I'm claimed already." He didn't need it.

But just as he didn't need to get married or wear a wedding band he still would. Because she wanted that, and he didn't mind it. Hardly a price at all to pay for making her happy.

So they had taken one of their lazy days to go shopping. For rings. "So what kind of ring do you want?" He asked where they were walking down the street hand in hand. Further down that street were a jewelry store that he hoped would have something that would strike her fancy.

"You make me sound like some kind of stray," he scoffed. Then, he suddenly grinned. It wasn't a very nice grin. "Oh, I can't wait to hear what your brother will think of this." It didn't much matter that he had only met Greyson once, he'd already decided that eh didn't like the man. Whenever they would have the misfortune to meet, Ford would do his very best to rub his face in the dirt. Just because he could.

She laughed, because he may not be a stray, per se, but he certainly was something. Definitely not the kind of guy you'd usually bring home to mom. Not that she brought anyone home to mom. Besides, he was giving her that smile that said he had some horrible thought in his head, but when he voiced it, she laughed with him over it. "Oh God, Greyson will not be happy," she laughed, ducking her head in against him. "He's... he's on his own. I can't do anything for him."

"I get to rant at him if he doesn't send us a wedding gift, right? Please tell me I get to rant at him." It had been a while since he'd had the opportunity to be a class A Asshole, so any excuse, really.

"Why do you need to bait him? I know you get pleasure out of it, but it only makes him hate me more than he does already," she argued, though still smiling. There wasn't much about this that couldn't keep her happy. She much prefers to be in a good mood with him than worried. "Ya know, I'm not sure what Quinn is going to say either."

"She doesn't like me either, you now?" And truth be told, he wasn't sure what eh thought about her either. But he didn't want to purposely bait her and be an ass to her. With her, he felt he could at least keep the peace as long as she met him half-way.

"I didn't she didn't like you," she replied, looking up at him and trying to smooth it over. "I'm just not sure how she feels about everything. She's unstable in the way she reacts to things with me. Sometimes it's like she wants me around and other times she seems to want to get rid of me. I think she tends to be protective, that's all."
