Body and Appearance

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Ford is tall, around 6'4", and quite thin. He in no way lacks muscle-tone, but the muscles he has are of the lean and sinewy kind, and he has little excess body fat.

2. How old is he?

41.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

When standing he hardly ever slouches, but rather stands his full height. But even so he manages to look relaxed, often with a slight tilt to his head, or his weight more on one foot than the other.

He slouches when sitting, though. He even sprawls if there's room for it.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

The powers and abilities he possesses keeps him from even being sick. And he likes to work out, so he's in good shape.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

His movements are usually very deliberate, and not without grace.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

That depends on ones tastes, yes? Tall, lean. Angular features. Long, red, curly hair. Short red beard. Blue eyes. But the coldness in his eyes and expressions does take some away.

He thinks he looks good, though.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Fair. He's a redhead, after all. And clear.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

Long and curly, and prone to tangles if he doesn't watch out. Fairly soft. And yes, that golden red is his natural color.

9. What color are his eyes?

He sees the world through a pair of icy blue eyes.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

A neatly trimmed beard, a shade darker than his hair. A quite sharp nose.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

Abdomen. Jaw and neck. He'll seriously grit his teeth, this one.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Aaaall black. Well, there's a few exceptions, but not much. He's usually seen in black jeans in some comfortable fit, black t-shit or button-down shirt. He's no fan of baggy clothing, and his clothes tends to fit him very well and shows his build.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

See above. And yes, he's comfortable in them.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

His job is his life, so...

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Boxers.

Speech

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Rather deep and a bit melodic. There's hints of an accent, or rather a mix or two accents (Irish and German), and this becomes more pronounced when he'd intoxicated or angry.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

He has arrogance in his voice. Other than that his speech is calm, sometimes bordering on sounding bored and uncaring.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Hints of Irish and German. More pronounced when drunk.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

English and German, fluent.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

While he normally doesn't speak with a strong Irish dialect, he can certainly do so. Often with the goal or making fun. He has no problem switching to German if he needs to.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

Normally he's fairly quiet, and often puts some thought behind his words. Not that you would think it, considering the insults he tends to spew out.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

His vocabulary is fairly standard, though he usually won't say more than he needs to, particularly when speaking to strangers.

Mental and Emotional

1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

Street-smart. He has little in the way of a traditional education, having left home at the age of fifteen.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

He trusts his instincts most of the time. But that's not to say that he won't plan ahead.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Logical and practical, coldly so. Personal feelings have little to do with anything, he figures. Particularly other people's personal feelings.

Though there are exceptions to everything...

4. What kind of education has the character had?

He started high-school but never finished. But that doesn't mean he doesn't possess higher knowledge, as he tends to pick out what he needs to know for other people's heads. This gets stored, and he's done this for over twenty years.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

Psychology and biology, mostly. People's minds are his area.

He's also a great gardener, oddly enough.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Believe it or not a bit of both. Though mainly introverted, he does need people around. He would never admit it, but he needs people to remind him that he is only human.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Calm and collected, most of the time, with deeply buried fears. He has an iron grip on his emotions, and appears laid-back to the point of being uncaring and indifferent.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Suspicious, but doesn't show it. He won't exactly start volunteering personal information. But, heck, sometimes in a blue moon he'll give people a chance.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

Mainly react. He's set in his ways, and won't step off his beaten path unless it's something important or someone makes him.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

Fight. And he tends to win. It's rather hard to win over someone who is a very strong telepath. Though he'll know when he's outnumbered, and won't be ashamed over a strategic retreat. But bets are he'll come again with some Guerrilla warfare strategies.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

Insults, insults and more insults. Gallows humor, and the more sarcastic and bitter the better. He hides a lot in his jokes.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

None. Although a quick online test gave this:

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

Being captured and forced into service in the Organization.

The first life he took, and the feeling he got that he had no way back.

The events that led to his partner being broken mentally

14. What does he fear?

Not being able to fix Francis, or losing him altogether.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

His one main goal is to one day mend the broken psyche of Francis, though he hasn't the faintest idea how to do that. That he's stubborn and too untrusting to get assistance in the matter doesn't help.

Another goal is to eventually manage to leave the Organization.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

That he's terribly lonely.

Relationships

1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

He left home at the age of fifteen. Ran away, pretty much. His parents were good people, but as Ford became aware of his abilities he felt that they had nothing more to give him. So he left to try his luck and to grow alone.

He sometimes wonders how they are doing, if they are even still alive.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

None.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

None.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

He considers his former partner Francis Miller his brother. Though he feels a great deal of guilt for Francis being mentally shattered.

He had a girlfriend - the equally jaded and sarcastic Sarah - but as he hasn't heard from her in a very long time he considers himself dumped.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Francis. Francis was the one who hunted Ford down in his early twenties. Because Francis managed to beat Ford, Ford developed an odd form of respect towards the smaller man, which later grew into friendship and genuine respect.

6. Does he have other close friends?

There are a few co-workers that are closer than he'd like to admit, such as fellow shape-shifter Casper Robinson, whom he at times even trusts to take care of Francis for short periods of time.

Then there's his student - Darcy - whom he feels oddly protective about. Though because he feels protective, he'll terrorize her even more to convince himself that that's not the case at all.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

Good God, no. You could say that he keeps everyone at arm's length, but that would be considered close for him.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

He considers Francis important. Maybe Casper and Darcy. Maybe even Sarah if he met her again, but other than that... Everyone is equally unimportant.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

He's had a single girlfriend in his life. Just the one. He's the eternal bachelor.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

No romance at all.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

First and only was Sarah.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

He doesn't look at all. Does. Not. Want.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

Does! Not! Want!

He might have children somewhere, though. While he's been romantically involved just once, there has been many women passing through in his life. But none that he knows of.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

He definitely has people that would like to see him dead. But none that he worries about. Not anymore.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

0-1. If a guy would manage to turn his head, it would have to be someone way out of the ordinary.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

Sex is a distraction for him, and whether he'd like to admit it or not, a way to actually feel human and not like a robot.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

As a contrast to his usual jaded, cynical and antisocial self, he can be surprisingly tender in bed. He enjoys to take his time and to figure out how his bedpartner works without "cheating". Though that's not to say he can't be aggressive at times. Sometimes a fuck is just a fuck.

Turn-ons are women who knows what they want, and aren't ashamed. Self-consciousness and shyness are turn-offs.

Beliefs

1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?

February 22. Pisces

"Life Pursuit: To avoid feeling alone and instead feel connected to others and the world at large"

He'd never in his life admit it, but yes.

"This zodiac sign is acknowledged as being the Saint and the Sinner rolled into one; the trendsetter of fashion or art, the lost soul, the philosopher and the psychotic and the visionary."

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

He believes that there is some kind of a creator, some plan, and things that humans are unaware of and can't understand. But he's not on friendly terms with any religion.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Not much, other than don't harm innocent people. But he is a firm believer that the ends often justifies the means, and he won't shed any tears if there are casualties.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

He's likely to insult them, as he often finds other people's views stupid, and that goes double for their religions.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

No-one is free from prejudice. But he does try to judge based on what he experiences.

Daily Life

1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

His salary is quite good, and he has enough saved that he would be able to support Francis and himself for about a year before his savings runs out. He has a nice car, and a fairly large house in the suburbs.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

Upper middle class. He's been out of the system in large parts of his life, and has essentially been homeless from the age of fifteen to twenty-three. He did live rather comfortable, always had a place to stay, but he had no real home.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

Newton, Massachusetts, in a house much like this one: http://cache.boston.com/_webdesignready/2009/magazine/0322_topSpots/mag22topi1.gif

He lives there with Francis. And, it doesn't reflect his personality at all. It's very well decorated, stylish yet homely. And with a fantastic garden.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

Alcohol. He drinks quite a lot. Occasionally he'll get some new equipment for his gym.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

He hunts rogue telepaths, and other "powered" people. Hunter, killer, solider, mercenary, hit-man, enforcer... He's been called many things over the years.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

He works out more or less daily. In the warmer half of the year he spends a lot of time tending his garden. But he spends most of his free time with Francis.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

He's a decent cook, and makes sure to cook good and nutritious food because he is cooking for Francis as well. When he's not at home he'll eat whatever; junk food, gourmet food...

He drinks a fair deal. More often than not he'll stick to beer, with either bourbon or rye whiskey on the side.
